West Virginia vs Maryland: Mountaineers offense plays a role. West Virginia may have crushed their opponents in the last two weeks, but they will have to face a stronger Maryland on Saturday at the Byrd Stadium. Much of the success of West Virginia is their quarterback Geno Smith who superbly guides the team in both the ground and air game of the Mountaineers.

Smith completed 20 of 34 passes for 371 yards in a win against Norfolk State 55-12. He found his targets easily because of the offensive schemes that installed for the team to execute. Smith has been poise enough for him to sustain his effort despite the fact that his team was trailing in the first half against Norfolk State. It was his creative passes that made the team flawlessly in the second half.

Tavon Austin had six receptions for 82 yards to lead the team for the West Virginia offense. Not only Austin that flourished in this offense, Devon Brown caught four passes for 108 yards, Ivan McCartney had four catches for 79 yards, Dustin Garrison had three for 51 yards, and Stedman Bailey had two for 40 yards. A well-orchestrated offense with so many receivers in the West Virginia team.

For the West Virginia Mountaineers, it would be easier for them to complete this game against Maryland if they will have a great start that evaded the team in their games so far. Mountaineers never came up an aggressive start and and they will do it this time to make sure that they will not be chasing most of the time.

The rushing game may have been a difficult journey for the Mountaineers as the team still seeks to find the running back that can make this team powerful. Though Vernard Roberts rushed 17 times for a total of 64 yards, it wasn’t enough to fill the void left by their 2010 leading rusher Noel Devine.

Coach Dana Holgorsen has to find ways for the offensive line to provide gaps for the running back to run maximizing his effort by gaining for yards. If this happens, the passing game for Smith will be easier vs Maryland.

The explosiveness of Smith has temporarily filled in the missing running game of the team. However, this time against Maryland, Smith’s game might be insufficient for the team to win that ground game is needed.

For Maryland Terrapins, they have the advantage because of the long rest since they defeated Miami Hurricanes. Maryland possesses the defensive game that can win games in the college football.

Maryland beat Miami because of their defense through the interception by Cameron Chism that paved the way for the victory. Quarterback Danny O’Brien went on explosively for 31 of 44 passes for 348 yards against Miami. He led the team to dominate in the passing game but most importantly the defense came through at the right time to seal the game.

Kevin Dorsey caught eight passes for 124 yards to help O’Brien ease the pressure in that game against Miami. Moreover, Quintin McCree had seven receptions for 39 yards, Ronnie Tyler had six for 43 yards and Matt Furstenburg had four for 68 yards.

Maryland has the firepower in the offense that can match the West Virginia defense. Because of that, this game will certainly be a shootout and that both teams will play through their strengths.

PGA BMW Championship 2011: Justin Rose atop the leaderboard

Justin Rose pulled off a solid performance in the BMW Championship first round by shooting 8-under par 63 at the Cog Hill G&CC, Lemont, IL. With his precision and flawless calculation except for one hole, he almost made his day complete.

Rose went on to make his move in the front nine when he drilled in five birdies. He added four birdies in the back nine but he made a bogey to make him 3-under par. Rose was so aggressive on his tee shots as well as on his second shots that he currently has two strokes advantage.

Coming off in the second place is the winner of Deutsche Bank championship and currently in the first place of the FEDEX Cup points standings Webb Simpson who shot for 6-under par 65. Simpson has a lot of money for him on the line as he maneuvered to maintain his position in the Fedex Cup standings which matters most. He had a bogeyless performance making six birdies and 12 pars to finish the day. Simpson makes sure that he has the buffer after this BMW Championship 2011.

Mark Wilson is currently at 5-under par with one hole left for the round. He has three birdies, and eagle and a bogey as he still playing. Wilson was so aggressive on the 15th hole that he drilled in for an eagle. He has still a chance to make this BMW Championship worthwhile to compete with. Wilson is just three strokes behind the PGA leaderboard.

K.J. Choi is the next player in the PGA leaderboard at 4-under par 67 for the first round. He had four birdies in the front nine but eventually struggled in the back nine making only a birdie, a bogey, and all pars. Choi at one time on top of the PGA BMW Championship leaderboard but he was overtaken by Rose. Choi has a magnificent first round that can be the stepping stone for him to make the chase in the next rounds.

Camilo Villegas held his ground in the first round by shooting 3-under par for. Villegas had five birdies, two bogeys, and 11 pars to complete his day. He bogeyed the par 5 fifth whole and the par 3 15th hole that marred his performance.

Fedex Cup Playoffs champion in 2010 Jim Fury had also a 3-under par first round that keeps him floating in the PGA leaderboard. He shot at even par in the first nine holes by drilling in two birdies and two bogeys with five pars. However in the back nine, Fury was determined to be back by making three birdies and five pars. Furyk’s chances rely on his game this BMW Championship and on the next leg of the Fedex Cup 2011.

The young golfer Rickie Fowler finished the round with two under par 69 drilling in four birdies and two bogeys and the rest are all pars. Fowler can make his name in this tournament if he can still climb in the PGA leaderboard tomorrow. Without a doubt he desires to be in contention but still he doesn’t have the experience to do it. He has the skills and he is near of making it happen someday.

Meanwhile, Dustin Johnson went on wild today as he posted a score of 5+over par. He was not connecting his shots and he was not able to make the right calculations. Johnson who is second in the Fedex Cup points standings drilled in seven bogeys and an eagle. He was out of his rhythm on his swings and putts. Though he still has a chance to make up in the next rounds.

Another player who struggled in this round is Matt Kuchar who shot for 1-over par for the day. He drilled in one birdie, two bogeys, and the rest pars. Kuchar is expected to deliver and make it to the top of the PGA leaderboard but it seems that his first round was kind of struggle. He still has a chance to make things different in the next round.

Luke Donald also faded away in the first round at 4-over par. He drilled in two bogeys, and a double bogey, and all pars. He struggled to make birdies and what he did was to save his putts for par most of the day.

Nadal vs Djokovic: US Open Men’s singles final

Few hours from now, the gigantic showdown of the US Open men’s singles finals between Rafael Nadal vs Novak Djokovic will unfold at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. No one can really stop the match except for another rainy night that have been the visiting this place.

Spaniard Nadal will have a mountain to climb as he faces the player that denied him the Wimbledon this year, Djokovic. As the defending champion of the US Open, Nadal will be looking at his strengths to take every opportunity in bringing down Djokovic who won the Australian Open and the Wimbledon this years.

Last year, Nadal was ahead of Djokovic in all aspects of the game but this time, the Serb has a fruitful year with the record of 63-2. Nadal might be scheming for a game plan that is new to his opponent. We all know that this is not in the French Open where Nadal is the king. This is the US Open that Djokovic can win everything.

Nadal vs Djokovic is a rematch of last year’s US Open finals in which Nadal went on aggressively to win. Djokovic at that time was unknown to all but right now he is the No 1 player in the world and has the chance to make it one of the greatest year for a player winning three grand slams.

Nadal may not fear Roger Federer in the finals yet Djokovic is another thing for the Serb defeated him in five finals that eventually landed him on top of the ranking. Yes, before Djokovic came into the scene, the stories were filled with the rivalry between Nadal and Federer. This time the 25-year-old Djokovic entered into a Nadal-Djokovic rivalry.

The Spaniard defeated Andy Murray in the semifinal round to advance to the final of the US Open in four sets, 6-4, 6-2,3-6, 6-2. He may not have had much struggles in winning against Murray but his mind still thinks about the Serb’s dominance of the game. A spectacular volleys are needed for him to make a stand. Yes, this year might be the changing of the guards in the tennis world if Nadal will not compete aggressively.

Nadal seeks for his 11th grand slam singles against Djokovic. Will he be successful this time? Last year in the same court he defeated Djokovic, 6–4, 5–7, 6–4, 6–2, this time might be a different story.

Djokovic entered in this final round by barely defeating Roger Federer for five sets in the semifinal round, 6-7,4-6, 6-3,6-2,7-5. Djokovic had a classic match with Federer and that he almost lost it when he saved two match points. Millions were amazed on the resiliency of Djokovic in making Federer fell in the semifinals.

Novak Djokovic captured the Australian Open and the Wimbledon to make him the No 1 player in the world since July. He has the capability of making adjustments from game to game. His forehand might be the greatest weapon that he can throw to Nadal in this US Open men’s finals.

Since he added power to his volleys, the Serb has been winning matches after matches. The speed of his returns were high enough for his opponents to have difficulties in hitting the right mark.

Djokovic understands how to execute his game plan against Nadal. He knows how to make the Spaniard keeps on running the floor. Also his first serves will be the key against Nadal’s forehand volleys.

Djokovic should be attacking the net to finish points against Nadal, if not it will not be enough for him just to win through his forehand. Furthermore, he must be relaxed enough to use his backhand against the powerful returns of Nadal.

Jaguars vs Titans: Tennessee and Jacksonville with new quarterbacks

The Jacksonville Jaguars will start their season hosting the Tennessee Titans in one of the games in the NFL on Sunday. Jaguars decided to part ways with quarterback David Garrard and allowed Luke McCown to start this season.

Jaguars are searching for ways to improve the team and to come out higher than the Indianapolis Colts. Coach Jack Del Rio knows exactly that he has to start with the quarterback position. Garrard had a record of 39-37 as a starter since Byron Leftwich left the Jaguars but he didn’t play enough in the preseason games to convince the coaching staff that he is the right quarterback.

McCown will be the new face that will guide the team into victories as he controls the middle and anchors the offense. He has a chance now to prove that he can play as the starter and can be a great impact for the team.

The success of Jaguars doesn’t depend only on McCown. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew must be at his best if Jacksonville will have to be in the playoffs. Jones-Drew rushed for 1,324 yards last year in only 14 games. His health is the determining factor if he can run again with more than a thousand yards.

With the air and ground attack, Jacksonville Jaguars will be a contender in the AFC. With Peyton Manning injured, it is possible that Jaguars will win the division title. Del Rio knows their chances will be higher to be in the playoffs this time around than last season.

Jaguars went on to have a 8-8 record last season. They have the chance to be in the postseason but they failed to win games in the last four games.

For the Tennessee Titans, this may be the time to be back in the playoff because of their newly acquired quarterback from Seattle Seahawks Matt Hasselbeck. Titans let go of Kerry Collins who is now with the Colts and Vince Young with the Eagles.

Along the way, Titans decided to be without the long time Jeff Fisher after failing to win games last season as the Titans started 5-2 but finished 1-8. There was so much drama in last year’s collapse when they acquired Randy Moss from the troubled Minnesota Vikings.

Without Fisher, Titans handed it to his assistant Mike Munchak to take over for the team. This means that the program has the continuity and it hopes that Hasselbeck can make it happen for them. Hasselbeck had led the Seahawks to the Super Bowl and he can guide this team with his experience.

Tennessee Titans is not all about their passing game. The team has the highest paid running back Chris Johnson who signed a four year extension worth $53 million. Johnson is worth the price because he is one of the strongest running backs in the NFL. Last season alone he had 1,364 yards to help the Titans spreading the offense.

A ground attack is always in the mindset of the Titans that Johnson has a vital part in the success of the team. Johnson had proven that he can play with toughness and determination just for the team to win.

He is an important part in the offense that will benefit Hasselbeck every time he wants to rest his throwing arm. Johnson will play significant role in winning this game against the Jaguars. It is just a matter of opening up the offense with successive gains and the passing will become a threat for the Titans.

Giants vs Redskins: Rex Grossman as the quarterback for Washington

The Washington Redskins will face division rival New York Giants for the season opener of the NFL on September 11 at the Fedex Field. Redskins start the season with a new quarterback who can probably bring them to the promise land – Super Bowl.

Quarterback Rex Grossman won the quarterback battle against John Beck in a tight battle. Grossman will fill in the shoe left by Donovan McNabb who was traded to Minnesota Vikings. We all knew that Grossman once guided the Chicago Bears into the Super Bowl that lost to the Indianapolis Colts. The quarterback had the experience to live and share with his teammates.

One of the advantages that Grossman had against Beck was that he knows the playbook of offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan because they were together in the Houston Texans in 2009. Shanahan then held the same position while Grossman was a backup quarterback. Grossman can guide this Washington Redskins team that has a formidable lineup to go deeper to the postseason.

Coach Mike Shanahan made sure that there will be no distraction as he will coach this team for the second year. After trading McNabb, the team is without defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth who went to the New England Patriots. Shanahan had altercations with Haynesworth last season that might have affected the entire team. Shanahan now has the respect of his players as the team aims for the higher prize.

Washington Redskins will have a new defensive core players that will surely translate them into a tougher team both in the running and passing defense. One of the acquisitions of the Redskins, defensive tackle Barry Cofield who played five years with New York.

Some of the player concerns for Washington is tight end Chris Cooley who may not be playing against the Giants. Furthermore, one of blows that the Redskins had in the defense is the absence of safety LaRon Landry who was ruled out because of a strained right hamstring.

For the New York Giants, it is not clear if the team has enough firepower to be a contender after missing the postseason for two consecutive years. Giants had a record of 10-6 last year but the team didn’t advance to the playoffs.

Of course the Giants offense will still be energetic as quarterback Eli Manning is set to start with his statement in the previous month that stirred up conversations. Manning mentioned that he is in the “same class as Tom Brady” that will bring him into playing better this season. Manning threw 31 touchdowns in 2010 but he added it with 25 interceptions that marred his passing.

However, Manning will be missing his favorite targets wide receiver Steve Smith and tight end Kevin Boss as they signed to other teams in the free agency. Adding to the offense that departed from the Giants were offensive linement Rich Seubert and Shaun O’Hara.

New York Giants have been criticized of handling the free agency because many players left the team. The standoff between defensive end Osi Umenyiora and general manager Jerry Reese lasted too long to affect the team.

It seems that Giants has no luck this time in their rosters. In this game the Giants will be playing without linebacker Jonathan Goff because of torn ACL he got last Monday’s practice. The fact of the matter is that he will be with linebacker Clint Sintim, cornerbacks Terrell Thomas and Bruce Johnson. The team will be without defensive tackle Marvin Austin also. These players will not be in the Giants uniform for the whole year.

Adding to those players are Umenyiora who will be out for today’s game and Prince Amukamara for six weeks due to a broken foot. Can the Giants be back in the playoffs without these players?

Coach Tom Coughlin will have a rough 2011 season but he knows how to deal with all the problems that exist. The Giants will compete to win even though they are short-handed.

Seahawks vs 49ers: San Francisco and Seattle in a West Coast game

49ers vs Seahawks: Carroll vs Harbaugh in another battle?

The San Francisco 49ers will parade their new coach as they face the Seattle Seahawks in the season opener of the NFL at the Candlestick Park on Sunday. 49ers will look for winning season through coach Jim Harbaugh as the team faded in the NFL playoffs since 2002.

Harbaugh’s NFL debut will surely be scrutinized as he guides 49ers into a winning team and hopefully into entering the playoffs. However, he has a hard task ahead in turning the team into contender. 49ers cherished the moments when they were always a playoff team with quarterback Jeff Garcia and wide receiver Terrel Owens. They were competitive in the NFC when those players were with the team. However, when Garcia and Owens parted ways, 49ers faded into oblivion.

Last season before the games started, the 49ers were expected to be in the playoffs due to a week division rivals but they failed to win games getting only 6-10 record with Mike Singletary as the coach.

This instigated the front office to make a change in the coaching staff by acquiring Harbaugh who coached and led the Stanford to a 12-1 record last season. Harbaugh’s nearness to the 49ers was the biggest factor that he accepted the job. Now he has to make this 49ers team into a team that can play tough enough to be in the postseason.

Harbaugh began his move by selecting Alex Smith as his starting quarterback though many experts believe that he didn’t play well enough to get the nudge to be the no 1 quarterback. Smith had been with the 49ers since 2005 when he was selected as the No 1 pick from Utah. Smith might be fitted for the offense that Harbaugh wants to inculcate. Furthermore, this may be the year for Smith to have a breakthrough in his career though he was successful in his college years.

The 49ers will not only have the passing game through Smith but he can stabilize the offense through the help of running back Frank Gore who just have an extension of his contract. Gore is proven to be one of the potent weapons for the 49ers as made 1,305 yards from scrimmage in 2010. He will play significant role in this game against Seattle as he loved to play them in the past four game here in Candlestick Park. He averaged 148 yards per game against the Seahawks.

Furthermore, the 49ers acquisition of Braylon Edwards will help the passing game as Edwards plays alongside wide receiver Michael Crabtree. Smith will have a 1-and-punch as his targets in the passing game for the 49ers

On the other hand, the Seattle Seahawks will have a new face on the quarterback position with Tavares Jackson who came from the Minnesota Vikings. Seahawks had let go of their quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to the Titans making it a tough transition for the whole team with Jackson anchoring the offense. Hasselbeck was the main component in Seattle’s offense as he led this team to the Super Bowl, last season he guided this team to make one of the biggest upset in a wild card game against New Orleans Saints.

Seahawks decided to part ways with Hasselbeck and the team has to pay the price of they will not be successful this year. Coach Pete Caroll understands the situation well enough by acquiring Jackson from the Vikings.

Jackson is not the only player from the Vikings, wide receiver Sidney Rice also will be playing for the Seahawks uniform as he signed a four year contract to help this team be back in the playoff again. Rice has been a great receiver with the Vikings but injuries hampered his performance. Tonight, is is doubtful to play because of sore shoulder. Should he play, he will have his quarterback passing him the ball in Seattle’s uniform.

Seahawks vs 49ers game will not only about the players battle but also it will be a battle between two coaches who knows each other in college. Carroll was with the USC Trojans and Harbaugh with the Stanford who annually played each other as part of the Pac 10 conference.

Expect for the offensive schemes of Harbaugh to be manifested early in the game for the 49ers and the defensive game of Seahawks against 49ers aggressive offense. 49ers vs Seahawks game will surely provide the West Coast something to watch on Sunday.

Monday Night Football: Raiders vs Broncos

The Denver Broncos will start their season against the Oakland Raiders in the Monday Night Football at home at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Broncos will showcase their new defense that made the team fell into a disappointing 2010 season with the record of 4-12.

Broncos first move in the offseason was to fire coach Josch McDaniels, now offensive coordinator of Rams, and then hire John Fox as the coach to install the defense that the team needs. Fox is known for his defensive schemes when he was with the Carolina Panthers. Broncos hope to bring his defensive mind in a team that allowed 400 yards per game and scoring 29.4.

It was an awful defense that it never had any chance of keeping it up with the other teams. Furthermore, Fox inserted new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen to totally change the defense from 3-4 to 4-3. Surely, the Broncos are optimistic with the defensive schemes that will be implemented during the game.

Denver will also have their defensive leader who got 17 sacks in 2009 Elvis Dumervil to be in uniform. He will of course help the defense to be back on its stature as one of the best in the league. Broncos are expected to be in the top 10 of defense in the league this season.

Furthermore, the Denver Broncos settled in to start Kyle Orton as the quarterback. Orton flourished under McDaniels offense and that he became an accurate passer. He had 3,653 yards with 20 touchdowns, nine interceptions for the Broncos in 2011. The biggest question for him is how he will handle the new offense that the Broncos will call.

Orton will be again successful as he still has his target Brandon Llyod who went on to 1,448 receiving yards to led the NFL last year. Yes, Orton-Lloyd attack in the offense for the Broncos will bring damage to the defense.

For the Oakland Raiders, 2010 was a success though it was not enough for the team to be in the playoffs after posting a record of 8-8. Raiders success was all attributed to the offense which now coach Hue Jackson handled and inculcated to the team. He installed this high powered offense that surprised many teams even the Broncos.

Raiders offense defeated the Broncos twice in an overwhelming fashion. In the first game, Raiders demolished Broncos 59-14 and in the next game it was a 39-23 victory that caught the Broncos unsatisfied.

Oakland has a weapon that will be difficult to contain. Running back Darren McFadden will be a headache for Fox defense in this game. He compiled 165 yards and 119 yards in the two games against Broncos as he ran with power and speed.

Though the Raiders were 0-4 in the preseason, it doesn’t matter at all because McFadden didn’t show up in those games. Moreover, the Raiders may have some surprises in tonight’s game against the Broncos.

Raiders are ready to play tougher this time because the Broncos are prepared for that kind of offense that Oakland used last year. It will be a tough call for coach Jackson as he guides this team into the playoffs.

Raiders passing game is expected to be on a high level also as their quarterback Jason Campbell will be mostly accurate on his passes. Campbell will be a great asset in implementing the offense of the Raiders.

Expect for a shootout unless the Broncos have something different on their defense to stop the Raiders. If the Broncos have fixed their defense then they will have a chance of winning this game.

Georgia vs South Carolina: Gamecocks offense the key

South Carolina is satisfied with their win over East Carolina but Georgia’s defeat in the season opener still lingers to the players’ minds. A battle in the Southeastern Conference as South Carolina Gamecocks will meet Georgia Bulldogs Saturday.

This is a game in which Georgia must have to win to avoid a 0-2 start. It would be devastating for the Bulldogs if they couldn’t pull off a victory against the 12th ranked Gamecocks because Bulldogs will have to tackle almost of the games left for them.

Moreover, the pressure will absolutely be in the shoulder of coach Mark Richt who will be in the hotseat if he cannot find ways to satisfy the school after a disappointing 2010 season. Richt must find ways to alleviate the damage that South Carolina will bring offensively.

The Bulldogs was overwhelmed by the Boise State Broncos last week, 35-21. Georgia’s quarterback Aaron Murray made 16 of 29 passes for 236 yards but his numbers were not enough to post a threat to the Broncos. Murray was so confident throwing his favorite targets Orson Charles who caught six passes for 109 yards and Malcolm Mitchell had three catches for 64 yards.

One of the biggest problems in the game for the Bulldogs was their defense that couldn’t control the passing game of the Broncos. This area could be the another loopholes that South Carolina can take advantage if the Bulldogs are not fast enough to make the necessary adjustments.

Also in that game against the Broncos, Georgia allowed 390 yards for the Broncos to dominate offensively against such shallow defense. Surely, Richt will be in a situation that he can be out of his job if his team will suffer another loss. It will be the first time since 1996 that the Bulldogs will open a 0-2 if they will not avert this disaster in the hands of the Gamecocks.

Georgia must find ways to stop the run so that they will have the control on the pass also. If the running game of South Carolina will be checked, then we have a game that will feature tight defenses in the fourth quarter.

For South Carolina, it is just fitting to mention that this team is ready to be on top of the SEC as they overwhelmed East Carolina in a 56-37 victory. Quaterback Stephen Garcia convincingly make the coaching staff to place him as the starter after he threw for 110 yards and a touchdown helping South Carolina for that victory. Garcia didn’t play the first quarter yet he magnificently provided the impact for the offense to move.

In that game, the Gamecocks trailed in the first quarter 0-7 and 14-24 in the first half yet the team dug deeper to make the necessary scores against Pirates producing 42 points against 12 in the last 30 minutes.

Gamecocks had the high powered offense through Garcia but still the decision rests on Steve Spurier if he will start him against the Bulldogs. Gamecocks flourished in the ground as Sophomore Marcus Lattimore accumulated 112 yards rushing and three touchdowns to help South Carolina opened up the balanced offensive attacks.

South Carolina can take advantage on Lattimore’s ground game as the Bulldogs had the problem in making stops. However, we all know that both teams are ready for this battle and that South Carolina may have the advantage.

We will witness the speed of these two teams and we can compare it to other teams. South Carolina Gamecocks will have the slight advantage but Georgia Bulldogs backs are against the wall that they will try to make things happen for them to win.

US Open Results: Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray advance to semis

With his power and precision in the quarterfinals of the US Open, defending champion Rafael Nadal outlasted Andy Roddick to advance to the semifinals.

Speed and determination made Nadal to silence crowd favorite Roddick right from the start as he controlled the whole game, 6-2, 6-1, 6-3. Nadal will have a chance to advance to the finals if he can defeat Andy Murray who also advances in the semifinals.

Nadal perfectly orchestrated a 22-0 advantage in forehand winners as he unexpected broke Roddicks solid serves six time. It was expected before the game that Roddick has the slight advantage on his serves but Nadal brought him down through his forehand.

Early from the start, Nadal already showed tenacity when he won the four games with no such degree of difficulties against the 2003 US Open Champion. After two sets, Roddick found himself in a difficulty as he was massage by a training. Yes, he was in a medical timeout to take care of his legs.

Rafael Nadal again is the player that has all the capability of winning all the way because of his toughness. In this US Open 2011, he is the only player who didn’t drop any set and he is seeking for his 11 Grand Slam title. Most importantly, he will be resting for tomorrows semifinal match against Murray.

Earlier in the day, Andy Murray overwhelmed American John Isner 7-5,6-4,3-6, 7-6, to have a meeting with Nadal in the semifinals. Nadal vs Murray in the semifinals will surely be a great match up as both players are ranke 2nd and fourth respectively.

It is the first time in many years that the top four players entered all into the semifinals. In another semifinal match, No 1 Novak Djokovic faces No 3 Roger Federer in what is expected to be filled with actions. Federer won five US Open title here and he knows what is at state when he meets Djokovic who won the two grandslam tournaments, the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

Oregon State vs Wisconsin: Badgers defense a problem?

Wisconsin Badgers understand that this team is build up to be one of the contenders for the national title. After sharing the Big Ten title last season, the Badgers are aiming for another conference title and if they will go undefeated then they will surely be in conversation for the national title.

Quarterback Russell Wilson sent message to the rest of their opponents that he can ignite the team’s offense if necessary. He had an excellent performance wearing a Badgers’ uniform in the first game against UNLV. Wilson completed for 10 of 13 passes for 255 yards and he accumulated 62 yards in running just two times. He also had four touchdowns and one credited to him for running.

Wilson knows how to win games as he led the Wolfpack to a bowl victory in 2010. As the starting quarterback of the Badgers from North Carolina State, he honed his passing skills well enough to fit the offense of Wisconsin.

Coach Bret Bielema was impressed with what Wilson brought to team. The energy and the leadership are the components of his debut as the quarterback of Wisconsin. Wilson can bring this team deeper and he can be one of the best quarterbacks in the college football at the end of the season.

Powerhouse Badgers have all the players to dominate this game against Oregon State. Furthermore, it is not only passing that Badgers are very dominant, they also have two talented running backs who are alternating. Surely Montee Ball showed what he got when he rushed 10 times for 63 yards and three touchdowns. Also his partner James white had 64 yards for 11 carries.

Offensively, the Badgers were very successful in creating the running game as the game progresses. With the total of 241 ground yards in their game against UNLV, the Badgers are difficult to stop.

Wisconsin has the defense to play with against the Oregon State. It has a package of speed and athleticism to topple their opponents. Moreover, the Badgers have the size defensively against the offense of the Beavers.

Wisconsin must win this game to completely to make sure they can be part of the National title game if they go undefeated. It would be foolish for the Badgers to take this game for granted.

For the Oregon State, it the defeat the team suffered in the hands of Sacramento State still lingers in their minds but the show must go on. Beavers will try to bounce back from that excruciating loss yet they will concentrate against a much tougher opponent.

Offensively, Oregon State has Malcolm Agnew to lead the running game against the Badgers. He must have the legs and power to derail the defensive schemes of the Badgers. Oregon State is a team that flourishes in times of adversity. They can post a threat for the Badgers’ dream.

In order for the Oregon State to have a chance of stealing this game, they must play defensively and hoping for a close game in the fourth quarter. If this happens, they can scare Wisconsin and they might surprise the football world.
